It’s a time for reflection at Pismo as we look back at a landmark year for the company. Following our remarkable growth in 2021, Pismo continued to move at hyperspeed. Leading media, podcasts, and events featured our leaders, while our projects and clients saw recognition in several industry awards.
Take a journey with us as we wrap up 2022 and all it brought for Pismo, our clients, and their end customers.
2022 by the numbers
The Pismo platform effortlessly dealt with some impressive metrics in 2022. This included a Black Friday in which our systems processed 200 transactions every single second.
In 2022 the Pismo platform added 26.7 million new accounts under management, bringing our total up to just under 64 million.
Pismo also helped issue 13.4 million new cards, meaning more than 31 million cards have now been created using our systems.
We partnered with OneConnect and launched OneCosmo
In April, Pismo announced its strategic partnership with OneConnect Financial Technology, an associate partner of the Ping An Group.
OneConnect provides technology-as-a-service solutions to financial institutions and adds Pismo’s innovative cloud-native platform to its growing portfolio of leading solutions. It serves all of China’s major banks, as well as a majority of its commercial financial institutions.
In July, the partners launched OneCosmo, an all-in-one digital banking solution tailor-made for financial institutions across Southeast Asia.
OneCosmo enables customers to onboard within weeks due to pre-integrated and pre-configured features. It also enables real-time data streaming for greater insight into consumer behaviour through data analysis.
We later launched OneCosmo in the United Arab Emirates, too.
Pismo launched a new office in Singapore
Pismo expanded its global reach by opening a new headquarters in Singapore. The new location has underpinned our commitment to the region, one in which local banks and institutions have a keen interest in innovative and modern platforms.
The office is set to become the hub for all of Pismo’s product support, project delivery, and business development activity in Southeast Asia. Part of that included joining the Singapore Fintech Association.
We also opened a new location in Brazil
Speaking of offices, Pismo opened the doors to its new Brazil headquarters in November. The building, located at Faria Lima Avenue in São Paulo, sits at the heart of the financial district.
The office was designed with expansive rooms so Pismo employees could meet and work in a shared environment. Some of our São Paulo-based Pismo team was at the opening this week.
Pismo’s media and podcast appearances
Pismo leaders, thinkers, and projects appeared on several significant media platforms in 2022 as we made waves across the globe.
We covered a wide variety of topics, including cloud computing, the industry’s future, growth during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the success of the Pismo platform.
Pismo’s CTO, Daniela Binatii, has been featured in many podcasts this year, including Robert Walters, ACE, and Harrington Star. Our solutions architect Mauricio Galdieri appeared on the Gremlin podcast talking about chaos engineering.
Nordic Fintech Magazine and Monitor Mercantil interviewed Daniela this year. Ricardo Josua, our CEO, appeared in The Fintech Times, Curinos, and the blog of Sramana Mitra. Vishal Dalal, our CEO for North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, was interviewed by Business Leader.
Away from the interviews, Pismo had profiles and mentions in a diverse range of publications. This included CB Insights, Nilson Report, Valor Economico, Celent, and Forbes.
Pismo attended major events
2022 marked a year for Pismo to make its presence felt at several major industry events and conferences. We attended the Innovate Finance Global Summit and London Fintech Week and brought our eye-catching conference booths to Money20/20 Europe, Febraban Tech, and Money20/20 USA.
Thousands of delegates from companies worldwide stopped by to talk to us and learn more about how Pismo is providing next-generation financial services at scale and speed.
Pismo and clients recognised with awards
Deployments of the Pismo platform by our clients received deserved recognition in 2022. In several award shows, spread across three continents, judges highlighted the capabilities of our next-generation system.
N26 Brazil and BTG Pactual won at the Financial Innovators of the Americas Awards. BTG Pactual also won Best Digital Bank at the Finovate Awards, where it was also a finalist for Best Customer Experience. Pismo client Cora, the Pismo platform itself, and Daniela Binatti also received finalist slots at the show.
The NeoChallenger Bank Awards, held by IBS Intelligence, awarded Pismo and Cora the Best Overall Project Implementation in the Americas. Cora also won Best B2B Payments Programme at the Pay360 Awards.
Pismo and Daniela were also recognised in the Banking Technology Awards, joined by BTG Pactual as a winner in multiple categories.
Pismo’s Developers Portal was a finalist in the DevPortal Awards
We launched a range of new reports and whitepapers
Our research into the financial services space led to the creation of several whitepapers and reports on the state of the industry.
Stessa Cohen, a renowned expert in banking and fintech, penned a paper all about the benefits of low-friction banking. We also explored the future of the payment sector in a world still feeling the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Banks are always looking to improve their infrastructure, and we explained how to move to a next-generation banking platform. Plus, with cryptocurrency grabbing headlines as it always does, we investigated what the world would look like if run on digital currency.
Goodbye 2022, hello 2023
As we say goodbye to 2022, a year in which Pismo made some real waves in the financial services industry, we look forwards to 2023. What will the new year bring? We can’t wait to find out.
