We grew at hyperspeed in 2021, spearheaded our expansion in North America, Europe, and Asia, and raised US$ 108 million in our Series B funding round.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support and backing of our clients, investors, and partners. Now, let’s see how we did in 2021!
We grew at hyperspeed
Pismo started 2021 with 50 employees and will end with 244. Yes, that’s almost 400% growth. This ultra-fast expansion of our team was necessary, so we could serve more clients — from fintechs to large banks — and become truly international.
In twelve months, from December 2020 to November 2021, our platform processed US$ 26.1 billion in transactions. That’s a year-on-year increase of 1,300%. Furthermore, we reached November with 33 million accounts in our platform. This is more than the combined populations of Australia and New Zealand.
We went global
Pismo already has a broad presence in Latin America, with clients operating in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil. Our expansion to North America, Europe, and Asia started in February when we hired Vishal Dalal as the CEO for these regions.
Vishal assembled a team in Bristol, UK, where we opened our first international office. Then we set up another office in Austin, Texas, in the USA — where most of our developer experience team is based. And, we are preparing to open an office in Singapore that will serve our clients in the Asia-Pacific region.
We raised US$ 108 million in our Series B funding round
In October, we announced the signing of our US$ 108 million Series B funding round. SoftBank Latin America Fund, Amazon and Accel led the round with B3, Falabella Ventures, PruVen, and existing investors Headline and Redpoint eventures.
By investing in Pismo, these companies expressed their trust in our ability to become a global leader in cloud-based systems for banking, payments, and financial market infrastructure. Additionally, our investors give us access to key people in the financial industry. This is helping us hire the best talent available and expand our business worldwide.
While we celebrated the Series B funding, the enormous signage wall on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square, New York, joined our party. Nasdaq used it to congratulate Pismo for the round. It was one of the most iconic scenes of 2021 for us.
