How a beach town in California inspired the foundation of Pismo

Pismo is named after Pismo Beach, a place that was also an inspiration to how we see our contribution to the world

Do you know how Pismo started? Our Co-Founder and CTO, Daniela Binatti, tells the story:

“It was a beautiful sunny day in 2015. I was travelling along the California coast with my husband, Marcelo Parise, another co-founder.

We were discussing how much banking and payment processing platforms were obsolete. Market surveys indicated that 80% of the world’s transactions still relied on outdated systems. In an increasingly speedy digital world, that was unacceptable.

We wanted to set off a company that could unleash a new era of banking and payments at a global scale. At that moment, we saw a traffic sign pointing to Pismo Beach and thought it would be an excellent name for the business.”

Pismo Beach was also an inspiration to how we see our contribution to the world. The smallest part of an ocean is a drop. Several drops comprise waves, which are the energy of movement and transformation. So the drops in our company logo represent the power of change.

Our vision is to be the most reliable, innovative and complete infrastructure for payments globally. Join us in jumping into the waves of transformation!
